Based off talking to my parents about parenting and how they think parenting should be. They think a good parent should always be there for their child no matter what the situation is. The reason for that is because they think a parent should be able to keep their kids confident about anything they do because a lot of kids like to give up on things when they notice they can't do it anymore or they are not good at it. I agree with that because if more parents were like that then more kids would much more successful in the things they do.

Things I would take in on becoming a good parent is the kids that I am growing up with now. How they act and how their parents would react to they way they act because a lot of people act different around their parents. So if their parents were to see them when they are not around and then they would pop up and the kids act would change, to me that shows good parenting because it shows the parent has the upper hand and when they are around things go the way they want them to.

Another thing is how my parents raised me I would take that and mix it with how I think parenting should be and try to raise my kids that way. Being there for kids is the number one thing that makes parenting good. If your there enough to me everything else comes easy because your child wouldn't be afraid to ask for help and you would be able to trust them with the things that they choose to do.

Do you think babies should be treated more like adults or like puppies?

I think babies should be treated like puppies because they don't know how to take care of themselves just yet. If we was to leave it up to themselves I think they wouldn't last long because they wouldn't know what to do or what's right from wrong. So I think that's why our society treat babies like puppies so it would be a easier process for them to understand the situation.

Do you think parenting comes naturally?

I think it takes practice to become a good parent or how to raise a child. A good way to practice is if you have little cousins or siblings that would be a good way to practice on how to parent children. I think reading books tells you how to raise certain kids in a way other people want to see kids raise and that's the "good way".

I clicked on the link "when parenting theories backfire" and that explains what I was trying to say when a book wants you to raise your child in a way they think it is good. When you try it, it doesn't always work and things go wrong.

Q1: A good friend is someone that's always there for you when you are going through the good and bad. No matter what the situation is you can always look to that friend for help and that's what I think a good friend is.

After doing this interview I notice that people have a different look on what a good friend is to what a bad friend is. I agree with some of the answers that was given in the interview because some people are like that and you can't trust certain people. Its hard for some people to notice the good friends and the bad friends because a lot of them are in disguise so you wouldn't know their real personalilty.

I think the usefulness of the result is to give you a idea on who you are if you have no clue. After the end of the survey and it tells you who you are then you might agree and say hey I see myself as that kind of person. Then when you find out what possible jobs may fit your personality you might start to look into those jobs and see if you would like to something like that.

My theory on human relations when it comes to power is that everyone wants power. If you ask any one if they wish they had power they would say yes because they would love if they could make some one do everything and they could sit back and watch. If someone was in charge of the world like a king back in the days I think the world would probably turn into a slave place again. My reasoning for this theory is because people have their own needs and would like things to be run their own way. If not a slave place then it would corrupt because they would probably have no laws and people would be able to do what they want.

My theory on friendship is that everyone needs a friend to have to talk to and tell them everything. I think without friends a lot of people would of kept it to their selves or even write in a diary.

School is a big thing in everyones life when they are growing up. If you don't go to school you most likely won't end up with a good job and you basically fail at life. If you go to school and drop out before you graduate, you are basically saying you gave up and you don't care anymore. The message the its really being given is go to school or you would end up a fool.

School has train us to study hard or else your not going to know what is going on. Pay attention cause you might get confused on what is going on. If you don't do your Homework you are just making the lesson harder for yourself and you are putting yourself in a big hole. School trains us to think that without school there is no moving on in life. School trains us to wake up early to be taught things most of us do not want to learn and remember to use them in a future situation.

Can the way school is run be change? I don't think so because its been tradition for school to be like that and to change it there probably will be a whole process that will take a few years. First you got to sit in on different classes and see the different ways you can change it to make it more interesting. Then you have to get the parents opinion on it an see if it would conveinent to change the way school is taught. Also the students have to give their thoughts on it and see if they would like the change or not. Then you have to take it up with the government and bored of education and see if they agree with the change etc. So I think its too much of a process to change everything.

My view on school is that at times it is a waste of time because we learn things that we would never need in life. Its good to learn new things but I think it would be more conveinent if we learned something we need when we are finsih with school. That way when it comes up we would know what to do and know how to handle the situation. Also having school 5 times a week seems like a little too much because that equals more stress on a student and less time to rest because there is so much work from different classes and a limited time to do each so you could get them done so I think school should atleast b 3-4 days a week.

School also depends on how the teacher aproches it. If the teacher is dedicated and willing to teach things that is needed in our daily lifes then students would agree on learing it. But if a teacher gives a negative approach then the students ego goes down because the teacher feels someting else could be more important than learning things like that. In most situations a teachers opinion would always be greater than a students opinion so what you want to learn is up to them and the teacher is the main source of being brain wash which is one thing that is hard to avoid.

I read the article on Gatto and the six lessons and it basically talks about he think school should be and the tricks students try to pull to get out of class. Also tells how he feels on the different types of students from the good ones to the bad ones. His class is strict and constantly try to keep kids in check so they won't slip up and make him our themselves look bad. He also talks about how teachers could never live up to the six lesson and wouldn't be able follow it.

What I think about the six lessons is that a lot of teachers try to do what the six lessons explain but they put their own twist into so it wouldn't seem that strict. If a teacher was to do exactly what the six lessons say then students would take their class seriously and wouldn't want to miss class. I think that is kind of like Mr.Z class where students try not miss his class and in ways he seems strict because he wants kids to learn.

Our class video was lost and could not be found so we had to watch Esther's class video and I think the message of the film was that there comes a point where a teacher can't take it anymore. In the video it shows the being disrespected by the students and they not caring that the teacher is in the room. That compares to one of the movies we watch where on the teachers first day the students show no care in the teacher being in the room and continue on what they are doing. This shows the teachers have no power and the students can do whatever they want.

In the film on the second day it shows the teacher couldn't take it anymore and he got drunk and told each student what was on his mind. That shows how powerless he was because he couldn't take the fact that the students wouldn't listen to him and he couldn't stop them from talking. This also compares to the same movie because when the teacher came on her first day and saw how bad the students were she wanted to quit there because she couldn't handle it. If classes were really like that and there was a option for the teacher to quit and not come back I think they would quit because no teacher would want to teach a class like that where the students are not easy to control

If any films came from the point of view of the parents and how bad their kids are doing in school I think they would blame it on the teachers because the teachers are suppose to keep the kids "under control". The reason the parents would blame the teachers is because they don't really know what is going on in the classes and how bad the students treat the teacher. If the teachers were aware then I think the students would have a different approach in school and then the teacher would have more control over the students.

There was this fashion teacher name "A Pimp Name Slickback" and he was all about looking good and wearing all the popular name brand clothes. He was the most popular fashion teacher in all 50 states including Puerto Rico. He was known for showing students the good way how to dress and the best fashion to model.

His next job was at a school in New York and when the students found out he was going to be their new fashion teacher they were excited and came in wearing some of their best outfits the first day of class. As "A Pimp Name Slickback" walked in with his assistant the students were at salute and all smiles as he walked to his desk. One thing about him was that he didn't grade students on class work or anything he just grades them depending on what they wore to class that day and if he liked it.

After 2 years working at the school "A Pimp Name Slickback" came up with his own name brand called APNS (A Pimp Name Slickback) and for him already being a famous fashion idol people bought his clothing line like little kids in the store wanting candy. When he notice his clothing line doing so well he retired as a teacher and now lives in California with his assistant.

In my book "the curious incident of the dog in the night - time" the main character seemed confused at times but he knew what was going on. He knew what was right from wrong, in the beginning of the book he slapped a cop because he wouldn't stop asking him questions. So he got nervous and slapped him and the cop asked him if he knew what he did was wrong and he said yes but he never nobody the reasoning on why he slapped the cop. He was a only child and his mother died a while back so he thinks about her a lot and wish she was still there.

This text relates to my topic because it shows how kids or students can be taught anything that involves real life scenario or can affect them in the real world. If someone else was to read this book they would be confused on why he did all these things and what was he thinking. But also realize what he was doing and didn't feel bad about it.

Big thoughts on school? School is in our presence because us as students can't do anything about it. Our ideas and opinions on school mean nothing because to adults it is just a way of getting out of school or not to learn certain things. But I think if school was taking seriously by higher power then they would realize, there are certain things we are learning that we would not need in real life depending on or career decisions and I think that should enable us to learn things that we want to not what other people want to teach us. Then we as students would think there is a better purpose in school and would look forward to learn something the next day.

In the future hopefully someone would figure it out and try to make a change to the things students are taught in school. It is not too late to make the change because there is still a whole bunch of generation left to get those students influenced to go to school. If someone could convince the high power to change up the lessons in classes and teach more real life things that we need to learn as we get older and go into the real world then the younger generation would be coming out of school more wiser and being able to tell a good deal from a bad one without making a mistake once or twice to figure out the right way to go.

In Obama's speech I like how he pointed out the small things that every kid goes through every new year when school comes back around. Also when he compares his self to every thing and how he would have to wake earlier than any other kid would have to just to get home school by his mother. Having the President make a speech like that can influence kids to go to school because it would probably make them think that if the President can go through such a hard time like that and succeed it something that big so can I.

His speech also affects the teachers because the teacher would probably like to reach standards and try to inspire the kids more to learn. So going into the new school year a lot of teachers would probably change their teaching styles to make their students want to learn more. But the teachers are as nervous as the students are because they don't know too much about their new students and how easy can they learn. Or if they could keep up with their teaching style and this affects the teachers because it makes the teachers feel that they not doing enough to make their students learn.

On the liberal arts article the opening question is a question we hear every time we study shakespeare and I agree "How will studying Shakespeare or cell biology or modern art help me get a job?" I'm confused because can I go to a job interview and say am familiar with shakespeare I understand every single word in all his plays. Would I get a job much more easier that way? I don't think so, business companies could careless about that. So I think learning shakespeare plays is pointless.

What I find interesting about school is how teachers can go through this everyday. They teach the same people everyday and deal with all the fooling around and don't annoyed and want to choke somebody. I think if I was a teacher I would have to kill somebody because I can't take the same things everyday.

HW 39 First School Assignment

Questions: What is the point of suspension? Why is school split into 2 semesters? Why do we have school Monday - Friday?

Ideas: School on certain days should be just strictly study time and allow students to catch up on work. Teachers should prep their lesson more before they give a big project. Lunch should be 10 - 15 mins longer.

A aspect in school that is grate for me is friends because it keeps me going makes me want to come to school. I think when you have friends in school you look forward to school more because you get to hang out with them for most of the day and you get to make jokes. Or the person doesn't have to be you friend, they could be someone you always joke around with in class and make people laugh, so you look forward to that and it gets you to wake up every morning and leave your house.

Another aspect that is great is having a good relationship with the teacher because it makes you feel more comfortable in their class and you won't be afraid to speak out. For example I think Elias and Chris have a good relationship with Andy because Chris and Elias are always joking on Andy and Andy takes until he finally thinks of a joke to say back. I think that is good because students look forward to things like that because they are able to laugh and have a good time.

Cool Video Project

Here is my video leave a comment and let me know what you think about it, my group memebers are Granit, Samantha, and Chloe. The video is shown from four different point of views while in gym class and how different people interact with their peers.

The insights of cool that the video integrates is how different people having their own way of being cool in gym and try interact with as many people as they can. What you would notice in the video is most of the boys are playing basketball or ping pong and most of the girls is either playing volleyball or sitting on the side. I think that shows how things get split and different sights of cool starts to kick in. After watching the video, my question was how are other gym classes at different schools? and are they seperated the way our gym class is seperated?

Making the video as a group we thought it would be good to make it from eacother's point of view and show what we do in gym on a regular basis. From Chloe's point of view she was just sitting on the side whtching all the different things going on around her like me playing basketball, Sam playing volleyball and Granit playing ping pong. Overall I thought it was a good video and the contributions made the video come out real good.

Making art seems cool because you can see a visual of what a person is thinking rather than listening to what they have to say and not being confused. I also like to watch a lot of videos because it makes me feel like I'm actually there while the event was being taking place. For art I like to see the skill people have to be able to make a drawing look real because I am amuse by little things like that. If I understand the point the artist is trying to put out with the drawing I could stare away and starting thinking and go into my own world.

Cool paper final

What do you think the definition of being cool is? Do you think you fit that definition? What I think the definition of cool is being known by a lot of people or know a lot of "important" people. Being cool can also be define by the things you wear, because base on the things you wear lets people know if you are up to date with the latest style. Cool is also based on personality and if you are able to make people like you by just talking to them or the way you act towards them.

In this world cool plays a big role but it is not notice because no one really takes the time out and try to compare the word cool to the things that are going on around them. If someone was to take that into consideration then there would be more debates on being cool and how it affects the way people are living and would people be able to change it. If that goes in affect it probably would have a change but not that much of a change because most people would probably think that if the way i dress or the way I act considers me of being cool then so be it I'm going to keep doing the things that I do. But if it was to affect some people and they were to notice how being cool changed them and they don't really like it, they would just change up their ways a little bit to feel that they made a change.

Wearing Pradas seems cool to most people because the way they look and the fact of how much it cost and for some people that can afford it. But Pradas aren't only bought by people living the projects, I have seen people that Live in private houses or expensive apartments that could afford Pradas as much as the person living in the projects. So when other people see people wearing Pradas and see they could afford them it's like being pressured into get something just to look as cool as the next person or to just feel on the same level as them so you can't be put down. This just doesn't apply to Pradas it applies to all the hot sneakers, boots and clothing line that you see everybody wearing and most people wants it because they see everyone else with it.

How can I connect to cool? In ways that I think I connect to cool is by the way I dress because being cool in a way is being up to date with the latest fashion and in my eyes that is where I think I am at. Also in the beginning of the unit when Andy asked the question to the class, who in your grade do you think is "cool"? My name was brought up by a student and that shows me being cool because I am being talked about and/or known by people in the school that I attend. Another way I can connect to cool, is my personality and that's being the way I walk the halls or the way I talk when I'm with my friends and also the students I know that go to the school. Most students even Middle School students that go to the school knows who I am and in their minds (refering to the Middle School students) makes them feel cool because they know a cool person in High School.

The word cool is something you can't control or you can't notice. Cool is going to be around for a long time and as time goes by a new definition or a new meaning of cool would be talked about. Even if people talk about cool and try to change it, everything would always be the same because most people may change but won't change the big things but would change the little things that in some ways won't critize the things they still do.

In L.A. a lot of people live the life style that is around them and L.A. is known for being the top city with gang violence. So for a Central American kid that lives in East L.A. to join the neighborhood gang is something you would see everyday over there. The reason I think kids do that in East L.A. is because they have no choice because it makes them feel protected when they are walking around the streets, being cool has nothing to do with it because I at the end of they day nobody is looking at you as the cool person in a gang but somebody that is dangerous and could but their life at risk. Being in a gang is not cool but if you feel that it would keep you safe then that is your choice but you also have to realize that now you are going to war with more people than you was once before.

For a black kid that lives in a housing project and buys pradas seems cool because it is showing that they can afford $300-$500 shoes and it shows that they have money. I agree that they can use that money and save it for going to college or something more important but not all the kids in the projects wants to go to college because they fell under influence of just barely finishing high school and spending the rest of their lifes living in the projects and buying more pradas. Also maybe kids the projects do have money saved up for college and you might not know that so you can't critize them by the things they wear because that might of came from the extra money they have.

Overall cool can be a privelage but people don't realize that so they take it as they have to be cool so other people could notice them. If their not notice they might feel left out so they going to have to do something to change it. But also the things some people do may not be cool in their eyes but in some one else eyes it would seem cool to them because maybe they can't do it or wouldn't bea able to do something like that.

I think tatoos are very artistic because people are showing the skills that they have when it comes to creating art. But what I think is puzzling people (Andy) why draw it on some ones skin when you could do it on paper? My guess is people enjoy having something artistic on them so it can symbolize them in ways but their ways might not be significant but in their eyes it feels significant to them. Since it is significant to them most of the time they would not care if some one else has a different opinion about their tattoo.

People make stories to explaning the same action because they feel that their stories are different and if they explain it different the reason for the action would be different. But what they don't notice no matter how many twist and different way of explaining things it all lead to the same action and that is they got a tattoo.

Does getting a tattoo an attempt to becoming special? Do you mean special like making people give you more attention? If that is the case then in ways that can be the situation depending on where the person got it. If they got it on their neck or around their wrist it was meant for people to see it so they would be able to comment it. Other places like your back or your chest, people aren't able to see it unless you show it off walking around with your shirt off.

part A : I asked this perosn where they did they get their style from and he said no where I dress the way that makes me feek comfortable. I wear baggy plain shirts sometimes because I like the way they look on me. I think that is a interesting answer because not a lot people like to wear plain baggy shirts but only a few do. The few that wear plain baggy shirts feel comfortable in it and doesn't wear to impress anybody but their self.

part B : I think this applies to me bcause the things I wear are the things I think that are in style and that would make me look nice for people to compliment me. Even though a lot of people wear the same things I do doesn't make want to change the way I dress because I like it and it makes me feel comfortable.
