HW 39 First School Assignment

Questions: What is the point of suspension? Why is school split into 2 semesters? Why do we have school Monday - Friday?

Ideas: School on certain days should be just strictly study time and allow students to catch up on work. Teachers should prep their lesson more before they give a big project. Lunch should be 10 - 15 mins longer.

A aspect in school that is grate for me is friends because it keeps me going makes me want to come to school. I think when you have friends in school you look forward to school more because you get to hang out with them for most of the day and you get to make jokes. Or the person doesn't have to be you friend, they could be someone you always joke around with in class and make people laugh, so you look forward to that and it gets you to wake up every morning and leave your house.

Another aspect that is great is having a good relationship with the teacher because it makes you feel more comfortable in their class and you won't be afraid to speak out. For example I think Elias and Chris have a good relationship with Andy because Chris and Elias are always joking on Andy and Andy takes until he finally thinks of a joke to say back. I think that is good because students look forward to things like that because they are able to laugh and have a good time.

Cool Video Project

Here is my video leave a comment and let me know what you think about it, my group memebers are Granit, Samantha, and Chloe. The video is shown from four different point of views while in gym class and how different people interact with their peers.

The insights of cool that the video integrates is how different people having their own way of being cool in gym and try interact with as many people as they can. What you would notice in the video is most of the boys are playing basketball or ping pong and most of the girls is either playing volleyball or sitting on the side. I think that shows how things get split and different sights of cool starts to kick in. After watching the video, my question was how are other gym classes at different schools? and are they seperated the way our gym class is seperated?

Making the video as a group we thought it would be good to make it from eacother's point of view and show what we do in gym on a regular basis. From Chloe's point of view she was just sitting on the side whtching all the different things going on around her like me playing basketball, Sam playing volleyball and Granit playing ping pong. Overall I thought it was a good video and the contributions made the video come out real good.

Making art seems cool because you can see a visual of what a person is thinking rather than listening to what they have to say and not being confused. I also like to watch a lot of videos because it makes me feel like I'm actually there while the event was being taking place. For art I like to see the skill people have to be able to make a drawing look real because I am amuse by little things like that. If I understand the point the artist is trying to put out with the drawing I could stare away and starting thinking and go into my own world.

What do you think the definition of being cool is? Do you think you fit that definition? What I think the definition of cool is being known by a lot of people or know a lot of "important" people. Being cool can also be define by the things you wear, because base on the things you wear lets people know if you are up to date with the latest style. Cool is also based on personality and if you are able to make people like you by just talking to them or the way you act towards them.

In this world cool plays a big role but it is not notice because no one really takes the time out and try to compare the word cool to the things that are going on around them. If someone was to take that into consideration then there would be more debates on being cool and how it affects the way people are living and would people be able to change it. If that goes in affect it probably would have a change but not that much of a change because most people would probably think that if the way i dress or the way I act considers me of being cool then so be it I'm going to keep doing the things that I do. But if it was to affect some people and they were to notice how being cool changed them and they don't really like it, they would just change up their ways a little bit to feel that they made a change.

Wearing Pradas seems cool to most people because the way they look and the fact of how much it cost and for some people that can afford it. But Pradas aren't only bought by people living the projects, I have seen people that Live in private houses or expensive apartments that could afford Pradas as much as the person living in the projects. So when other people see people wearing Pradas and see they could afford them it's like being pressured into get something just to look as cool as the next person or to just feel on the same level as them so you can't be put down. This just doesn't apply to Pradas it applies to all the hot sneakers, boots and clothing line that you see everybody wearing and most people wants it because they see everyone else with it.

How can I connect to cool? In ways that I think I connect to cool is by the way I dress because being cool in a way is being up to date with the latest fashion and in my eyes that is where I think I am at. Also in the beginning of the unit when Andy asked the question to the class, who in your grade do you think is "cool"? My name was brought up by a student and that shows me being cool because I am being talked about and/or known by people in the school that I attend. Another way I can connect to cool, is my personality and that's being the way I walk the halls or the way I talk when I'm with my friends and also the students I know that go to the school. Most students even Middle School students that go to the school knows who I am and in their minds (refering to the Middle School students) makes them feel cool because they know a cool person in High School.

The word cool is something you can't control or you can't notice. Cool is going to be around for a long time and as time goes by a new definition or a new meaning of cool would be talked about. Even if people talk about cool and try to change it, everything would always be the same because most people may change but won't change the big things but would change the little things that in some ways won't critize the things they still do.

In L.A. a lot of people live the life style that is around them and L.A. is known for being the top city with gang violence. So for a Central American kid that lives in East L.A. to join the neighborhood gang is something you would see everyday over there. The reason I think kids do that in East L.A. is because they have no choice because it makes them feel protected when they are walking around the streets, being cool has nothing to do with it because I at the end of they day nobody is looking at you as the cool person in a gang but somebody that is dangerous and could but their life at risk. Being in a gang is not cool but if you feel that it would keep you safe then that is your choice but you also have to realize that now you are going to war with more people than you was once before.

For a black kid that lives in a housing project and buys pradas seems cool because it is showing that they can afford $300-$500 shoes and it shows that they have money. I agree that they can use that money and save it for going to college or something more important but not all the kids in the projects wants to go to college because they fell under influence of just barely finishing high school and spending the rest of their lifes living in the projects and buying more pradas. Also maybe kids the projects do have money saved up for college and you might not know that so you can't critize them by the things they wear because that might of came from the extra money they have.

Overall cool can be a privelage but people don't realize that so they take it as they have to be cool so other people could notice them. If their not notice they might feel left out so they going to have to do something to change it. But also the things some people do may not be cool in their eyes but in some one else eyes it would seem cool to them because maybe they can't do it or wouldn't bea able to do something like that.

I think tatoos are very artistic because people are showing the skills that they have when it comes to creating art. But what I think is puzzling people (Andy) why draw it on some ones skin when you could do it on paper? My guess is people enjoy having something artistic on them so it can symbolize them in ways but their ways might not be significant but in their eyes it feels significant to them. Since it is significant to them most of the time they would not care if some one else has a different opinion about their tattoo.

People make stories to explaning the same action because they feel that their stories are different and if they explain it different the reason for the action would be different. But what they don't notice no matter how many twist and different way of explaining things it all lead to the same action and that is they got a tattoo.

Does getting a tattoo an attempt to becoming special? Do you mean special like making people give you more attention? If that is the case then in ways that can be the situation depending on where the person got it. If they got it on their neck or around their wrist it was meant for people to see it so they would be able to comment it. Other places like your back or your chest, people aren't able to see it unless you show it off walking around with your shirt off.

part A : I asked this perosn where they did they get their style from and he said no where I dress the way that makes me feek comfortable. I wear baggy plain shirts sometimes because I like the way they look on me. I think that is a interesting answer because not a lot people like to wear plain baggy shirts but only a few do. The few that wear plain baggy shirts feel comfortable in it and doesn't wear to impress anybody but their self.

part B : I think this applies to me bcause the things I wear are the things I think that are in style and that would make me look nice for people to compliment me. Even though a lot of people wear the same things I do doesn't make want to change the way I dress because I like it and it makes me feel comfortable.
